The publication is based on the manuscripts from musical archive of Lev PULVER (1883 1970). It has been realized and edited by Sergei LEONOV. "The Oath" is one of the two surviving fragments of music to the Moscow State Yiddish Theater (GOSET) production Shulamis (1937). It is a duet of two main characters of the play, Shulamis and Avessalom. The ranges of the solo voices are C#4G#5 and F#3F#4. "The Oath" is definitely one of the masterpieces of Yiddish musical culture of the 20th century.
Introductory text to the publication, written by Sergei Leonov, includes a short biography of the composer and a detailed description of "The Oath".
