Gustav Holst's "The Planets" is one of the most iconic orchestral suites from the 20th Century. Arguably one of Holst's most popular pieces, it has been performed countless times since its premiere in 1918. The solemn melody from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity has been used as both a patriotic hymn (I vow to thee my Country) and a religious hymn (O God beyond all praising). In this setting for Brass Quintet, each musician has an opportunity to perform as soloist as the melody rises through the ensemble. Two optional endings are provided, and the piece can be played in concert, patriotic or religious settings. For more brass arrangements by David J.
