Comedy for solo cello: the player complains aloud about the task, generally messes about and tries to play variations on two Manx folk tunes: the Streams of Lovely Nancy and Chyndaa yn Bwoailley, or Whirling Dance. We hear bits of Bach, Tchaikowsky, Lennon and Mc Cartney, di Capua and some rude sound-effects. The extreme range of the cello is employed. It's a tribute to the very comical Failing--a very difficult Piece for Double-bass by Tom Johnson
