This calm and gentle arrangement of the well-known Christmas hymn, "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear," is set as a trio for flute, violin, and piano. It is unique in that it gives each individual instrument an opportunity to shine; no instrument is particularly portrayed as dominant over the other. (There is even a point where the flute and violin accompany the piano.) Three pulses of the hymn are presented, before the piece fades away into a soft and lullaby-like close.
