Balancing Rock Australian Bush Landscapes, (Opus 40 No. 15) (New England Highway, Glen Innes, N.S.W.) A large boulder of granite rests precariously on a (300mm = 111316in) point, amongst other rock formations in the middle of the field. The first third of the piece is slow homophonic chord based motif, expressing the grandeur of the granite boulders. These then progresses to open arpeggios in the left hand, balancing carefully with strong melodies in the right hand. At times using triplets to highlight the fine balance of the rock. An excellent finale piece for any exam or recital.
