Originally composed by Joey Tempest, 'The Final Countdown' was a massive hit in the 1980s by Swedish rock band Europe. Always fun to sneak a bit of The Final Countdown into a jazz gig. The first part of the song is played straight, then the second part goes into swing rhythm. No vocals in this arrangement, just Europe's iconic main melody played in swing rhythm. Some reharmonisation occurs to 'jazzify' what was once an 80s synth-pop-rock anthem.Can be used for high schools, universities, any musicians capable of advanced material.
