An arrangement of the classic ballad for vocal jazz ensembles, based loosely on the recording by Carmen McRae and inspired by the writing style of Phil Mattson. SSATB (one bass/bari split at the end can be omitted)

A female soloist is featured at the beginning, during the middle of the 1st verse, and at the very end. Crunchy turns of harmony -- lots of extended chords, #9 dissonances, and mid-verse key and texture shifting to keep your advanced group engaged. There is a piano solo after the first verse; it can be replaced with a vocal or instrumental solo. A sample solo is written out for pianists who need it; chords are indicated.
