This new String Orchestra arrangement of The Eagles famous ballad Hotel California uses the broad pallet of colors available in the ensemble to recreate the "sound" of the original. The famous melody moves through the various voices of the orchestra, giving everyone a "turn at the mike." The complex orchestration of the original is reflected in the extended divisi for the violins and viola. Two solo violinists present the "dueling" guitar solos closing the iconic "solo break," while the famous counter-melody is presented by a solo viola. While this version is more suitable for a larger ensemble, and ideally this would be the case, one or two strong players on a part will also work.
This arrangement calls for two advanced violinists to perform the extended solos and is suitable for an advanced high school or college ensemble.
