"Dome epais le jasmin", also known as the "Flower Duet" is a famous duet for two sopranos from Leo Delibes's opera "Lakme". first performed in Paris in 1883. The duet takes place in Act 1 between characters Lakme, the daughter of a Brahmin priest, and her servant Mallika, as they go to gather flowers by a river. It is often heard in advertisements and in films. I wrote this transcription to play at the wedding of a former student, Maria Oliver Solomon. The original key of the selection is B major. I chose to set it in the key of B flat, because it is more comfortable to negotiate all the double thirds.
