Samuel Micah Hunter's best selling piece, this is a fabulous feature for the women in your choir! The familiar, haunting melody is first introduced by unison women before seamlessly splitting into two flowing, intermingling parts with great rhythmic independence, seeming to wrap around one another. The tenors and basses join the women to add a solid foundation and rich harmonic color to the last line of each verse, "It will not be long, Love, 'till our wedding day." The piece is arranged in a strophic form, allowing each choir to adapt it and make it their own. The possibilities are numerous: trade verses between soloists and small groups, alternate a quartet with the whole choir, hum a verse, etc. However you choose to present it, this piece will speak beautifully if treated with care.
