Claude Debussy wrote La Cathédrale engloutie (The Sunken Cathedral) as part of his first book of piano preludes in 1910. This work is based on a Breton legend where an underwater cathedral off the coast of the Island of Ys rises from the sea at dusk. This arrangement for horns and tuba uses "bell tones" to represent church bells. Further, the section at bar 28 is when the cathedral has finally risen and a great organ is playing.
