This is the "Friendly Beasts" tune which has it's roots in the 12th century- in a setting for mixed brass (two trumpets, one trombone, one tuba) quartet. The melody is taken through several keychanges and some very wide styles, starting with a pastoral ostinato then a little bit of jazz waltz followed by a Spanish Habañera (complete with flutter-tonguing- which isn't noticeable on the MIDI playback file) before it ends with a more traditional "chorale" feel, typical of a brass quartet. There are numerous "teachable moments" for those who study their brass instruments within this unusual piece.
