The art song/romance "The soldiers wife" («Полюбила я на печаль свою») (Op. 8, No. 4) was composed by Sergei RACHMANINOFF (1873 1943) in 1893. In present edition the Russian lyrics by Alexei PLESHCHEYEV (translated from Ukrainian poet Taras SHEVCHENKO) with transliteration and English translation are inserted into the score.

The romance is available in the original key of G minor (F#4 G5) for high voice.
