Nocturne of the Desert for solo alto/bass clarinet (unaccompanied) is a descriptive narrative songful depiction of the Sonoran Desert of the southwest at night. The music is meant to express an organic musical depiction of a natural desert landscape and the animals that inhabit it. Various descriptive ideas are marked in the part to help the performer visualize what is happening in the music and perform in character. The duration is roughly 3:45. NOTE: this version does differ from the soprano clarinet version.
