2016 Choral Contest Entry
"Do I leave Him in the manger?" A child loves to think of baby Jesus in the manger, but does he realize that Jesus grew up to do something amazing for him? This song, written for unison junior choir tells the story of Jesus' birth, His purpose, the fact that He died on the cross, and then rose again to bring us life. The third verse asks the listening audience if they leave Him in the manger, but then affirms that He grew up just for them. This download includes a part with the melody and lyrics, and a part with melody, lyrics and piano accompaniment for the accompanist/teacher. The vocal range is from A below middle C to the B above. The sample music file is sung by my former third and fourth grade students who attended the Christian school where I taught. It was recorded on January 25, 2000.
