Eleanor Rigby is an example of a song that demonstrates The Beatles evolution of moving from standard rock and roll to more experimental and alternative sounds. A song on the topics of depressing loneliness was not a common topic coming from rock bands in the 1960's. However, being a teenager in the 60's, the minor melody caught my attention and became one of my favorite Beatles songs. All that said, this arrangement features staccato chords and a melody that alternates between staccato and legato phrases. I wrote it at an intermediate level so it would be playable by teen piano students. I think teen students that are beginning to expand emotionally will be attracted to Eleanor Rigby. I see this arrangement being popular for family gatherings, and recitals and well as self-satisfaction. Also, adult students and amateurs would be attracted to this arrangement.
