This American spiritual derives from the period of slavery but actually wasnt published until after the Civil War. I tried to give this arrangement a new harmonic feel without losing the yearning expressed in the words and the songs title. The big stretches and the wide hand crossings put this arrangement in the later intermediate and early advanced level.
