2015 Piano Contest This piece is based on an initial bassnote, followed by the slow arpeggiation of a chord in fourths. The combination of various types of perfect, and augmented 4ths gives the piece its shifting colours and sound. The Music for the Taking series was conceived to exploit various melodic and harmonic shapes at the keyboard. The rhythm gives each piece a different mood, but the unifying factor is the pianistic basis for each movement. Dur, around 5 mins. This is the easiest piece in the set, so, while, the grouping as a whole is advanced level material at tempo, this is the least problematic of the set. MP3 MIDI audio. MBB
