Here is a piece that uses a LOT of changes in time signature, often three or four to a line of music. Yet, the melody links all the changes together, with some jazz-like harmony underneath it all. Often, the melody is simply the top note of a series of chords. At other points the melody separates and chords punctuate beneath it. Read the meters, and you'll see the piece as a series of short phrases that roll into each other. The middle section keeps to a common time, common time!, and uses some close harmonic shifts that make for a smooth transition back into a recapitulation of the opening section. I think that if one masters some complex music, the composer ought to give you another chance to show that mastery, and thus I use the A-A-B-A song form here. Approx. duration 2 mins.
