This piece for SSATB choir, piano, and synthesizer is inspired by astronaut Mike Collins, who on July 21, 1969 orbited the moon while comrades Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took their famous first steps on the lunar surface. Using NASA sound clips from the Apollo 11 mission and Collins's own words, the piece contemplates Collins's solitude and the unique perspective of humanity granted to those privileged few who have seen Earth from far above.Grade 4 (Medium Hard)
