Also known as "Air on the G String," this is, arguably, Bachs best known and most loved work. As well as being a piece of eternal perfection, it is a brilliant opportunity for students to explore the way in which Bachs harmonic movement and counterpoint work so effortlessly together. While it is not technically difficult to play each individual part, it presents a wonderful interpretive challenge in bringing to life the seemingly endless melodic line and dialogue that waits eagerly to be realised. In this arrangement the transposition from the original D Major into E flat Major (F Major for the clarinets) more comfortably preserves Bachs original voicing with the more robust tone color offered here.
