"Twas In The Moon of Wintertime" originated as a French Folksong from the sixteenth century, with words written by Jean de Brebeuf. Garth Williams has taken this melody and has presented it using a number of different forms, the canon being most dominant. Once this melody is established he introduces "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and indeed, finishes the composition with considerable exuberance. The score is presented with an additional Third Violin part if violas are in short supply.
