The anonymous song "Didnt My Lord Deliver Daniel" is one of many African-American spirituals that borrow biblical imagery to talk about hope for freedom from oppression. The classic arrangement of this spiritual by H. T. Burleigh will no doubt remain a standard, but I hope the rhythmic variety, jazz harmonies, and big finish of this version will add spice to your church and recital repertoire. This arrangement (which tops out at a high F#) will also be available in high-, medium- and low-voice editions.
