2020 SMP Press Composition Contest Entry for the Popular choral and Sacred choral categories: This is a SATB choir/quartet arrangement of a classic Gospel song by Bill & Gloria Gaither, and tells the story about the birth, life, death, and return of Jesus Christ. In addition to the vocal and piano/keyboard parts and octavo, there is an optional part for trumpet containing both the melody and an accompaniment. (So, this could also be performed without a choir as a trumpet solo/duet with piano accompaniment.) The approximate playing time is about 4 minutes, with a key change from Bb to C on the last verse, and it is appropriate for any church service, especially for Christmas, Easter and/or Holy Week.NOTE: A similar TTBB arrangement in Ab to Bb is also available for male choir/quartet.
