"On the Sunny Side of the Street" is a Great American Jazz Standard from 1930. It was composed by Jimmy McHugh with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Some authors say that Fats Waller was the composer, but he sold the rights to the song. This jazz string arrangement presents the original tune and is followed by an improvisation section for violin solo with rhythm section accompaniment. A suggested solo is included. While most parts remain in first position, some optional octaves are presented in the Violin 1 part. A Violin 3 part is included that double the Viola.
