Gavotte and Variation is an arrangement for mixed woodwind quartet of a short keyboard piece by the great German/English composer G. F. Handel. It is intended as concert or contest repertoire for 8th - 9th grade students. The gavotte is a French dance that was popular during the Baroque era. This quartet is scored for oboe, 2 Bb clarinets, and Eb alto sax. The oboe part can also be played on flute (with a couple cued notes for young players who don't yet have a strong low C).
