Mozart wrote the 5 Divertimenti in 1783 probably for his friend Anton Paul Stadler, the leading performer on the clarinet and basset horn of the day, for whom he also wrote his clarinet concerto. The 5 Divertimenti are all in the key of Bb and all have 5 movements and were intended for three basset horns or two clarinets and bassoon.
This arrangement for flute, oboe & clarinet keeps as close to Mozarts original as possible, the main changes are changes of register to suit the ranges of the new scoring. The inconsistencies in the flagging (or not) of the grace notes have been resolved in accordance with performance practice at the time. Edited dynamics have been placed in parentheses and slurs in broken lines.
There are 5 movements, Allegro, menuet & Trio, Adagio, Menuet & Trio & Rondo: Allegro assai. The piece is suitable for all players of about grade 6 A.B.R.S.M. and above and makes an excellent concert item for both formal and informal ocasions.
