An uptempo arrangement of John Newton's beloved hymn. Arranged as a "what might have been" if things were different back in the 1940's. In big band tradition, there's four opportunities for the same or, better still, four different players is improvise for 15 measures between four verses of the hymn. The first three improvisational sections are envisioned as pure solo, the fourth is a variation on the melody. None of the improvisations are written. It will be up to the soloist to create his/her own (developing creativity in the student).
