Frank Bridge, 1879 - 1941, was an English composer, viola player, and conductor particularly known for his chamber music and songs. A student of Charles Villiers Stanford, he, in turn, became the teacher of Benjamin Britten. Although he composed in many genres, he was particularly successful in his smaller forms, such as this attractive Spring Song which is taken from his collection of four small pieces for either violin or cello composed in 1912. This arrangement is for Viola and Cello - a version which Bridge as a prominent violist himself would surely have approved and will be ideal as a duo for chamber items. teaching or busking!
