Joplin wrote this rag and performed it at the St. Louis World's Fair in December, 1904 where it was favorably received. This version is suitable for an early intermediate student and features a wide range of common accompaniment styles that is common to the solo piano genre (Alberti bass, march rhythms and the "two-step" beat among others).
