This solo work unites the double bass with the performer using a musical dialog which ultimately brings the two close together. The story begins with the performer in command of his instrument, then the instrument takes over in command of the performer and in the final section, the two find ways to work together. The score is primarily spatial which leaves the performer much leeway and freedom in his or her interpretation. The contemporary techniques are explained at the beginning of the score. The duration is 8 minutes. This is a manuscript score, thus the reduced price. The work was written for Jon Deak, bassist with the New York Philharmonic.
