Elizabeth Raum is one of Canada's finest composers. Since graduating from the Eastman School of Music she has performed with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Halifax and for many seasons was Oboist and English Horn soloist with the Regina Symphony. She now resides in Toronto where she devotes much of her time to composition.
Quintet for Trombones was written for the well-know Trombone ensemble, I Tromboni when they were one of the featured ensembles in the 2007 Colours of Music Festival in Barrie, Ontario when Ms. Raum was the Composer in Residence. The work is about 4 minutes in length and has a Toccata- like style, in that the ensemble is passing around the main melody throughout the entire work, keeping the flow and energy constant.
This fine work is suitable for advanced performers and all parts are in bass clef.
