Product Description

Franz Schubert was the master composer of the German Art Song or Lied. Auf dem Strom (On the River) was written in 1828, just a year after Beethoven's death. With the performance of this and other works at a concert promoting his music, Schubert reached the zenith of his popularity in a career which was tragically cut short only a little while later.

Mr. Sauer has beautifully transcribed this work in the key of E-flat (original key of E major) for Trombone, Horn & Piano. The Trombone performs the Tenor voice part of the trio. A substitute Trombone part has also been supplied for the Horn part. The lyrics of the poem, written by Ludwig Rellstab have been included with the score to better allow the performers an understanding of soul of the work.

About 7 minutes in length for advanced performers.

This transcription was first performed by Ralph Sauer and Hornist Stefan Dohr (Berlin Philharmonic) at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
