Sortie (Toccata) for Organ from Messe Basse. Vierne composed two organ masses Messe basse op. 30 (Summer 1912) and Messe basse pour les défunts op. 62 (Winter 1934/35), both for organ and/or harmonium. These are glorious works filled with melodies, harmony and rhythmic interest historically found in French organ music. The difference between major works and these masses is that each movement within the mass is a few minutes long and serves a purpose during the mass, as certain movements contribute to the drama of the Eucharist. This piece will be an all around pleaser, is fun to play - with the feel of a French Toccata. This edition was created in celebration of Viernes 150th birthday.
