César-Auguste-Jean-Guillaume-Hubert Franck (10 December 1822 8 November 1890) was a composer, pianist, organist, and music teacher who worked in Paris during his adult life. Francks famous "Panis Angelicus," which is Latin for "bread of angels," sets the penultimate verse of a well-known preexisting text, this time a hymn by Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), making for a powerfully inspirational vocal work, arranged for clarinet choir, solo soprano and choir. The sound sample is an electronic preview.
