Edward Elgar's stirring melody, "Salut D'amour", arranged for string quartet with the melody played by the viola. Elgar wrote this as a tribute to his true love, when he was a struggling young composer with no money and little prospects. The song convinced her to marry him, over her parents' bitter objections; and over the years, Elgar became the leading composer of Britain, was knighted, and far exceeded her parents' best dreams. You are invited to try my version with solo cello, rather than viola. Advanced intermediate level. If you enjoy this arrangement, you are welcome to try some of my other arrangements. You can see them by clicking here ), I have also arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I arranged and distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa.
