"'Twas in the Moon of Wintertime" is a Canadian Christmas carol sometimes known as "The Huron Carol." Inspired by an old French folk tune, Jesuit missionary Jean de Brebeuf penned the haunting lyrics in 1642, possibly making this song the oldest Christmas carol in all of North America. Grandma claims she once heard Jean de Brebeuf preach on the shores of Lake Huron, but I don't think even Grandma is THAT old! What a great carol for Advent, and its mysterious melody will stay with you throughout the season! Key of G minor with no key changes, three pages, 2:30 minutes in length. Intermediate level.
