This is a three-movement piece of program music, each movement describing in a general way settings and actions typical of life in the American west. I adapted it from my Brass Quintet No. 3, and found that the music lent itself beautifully to being expanded for this chamber orchestra: strings, single winds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, & trombone), two percussionists, and piano. Please give a listen to the full-length MP3 on this website. Duration: 12 minutes, 4 seconds.
