https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6l4Q1lot6c The Oasis song "Whatever was written in 1994 and is one of their longest tracks. It really lends itself to a quartet or string orchestra arrangement as the original has a very prominent string presence throughout. The key is easy for strings and there are lots of straight and satisfying quaver sections. I gave the opening melody to the second violin this time! There are some double stopping moments in fifths, but many more with at least one of the pair being an open string. Bars 22 and 23 are quite syncopated and it may help classically trained musicians to have a listen to the original to get a lazy feel to it rather than a more literal rendition! At Bar 20, the cello solo could be played an octave lower. The first violin has the trickiest part, but the ending need not go up the octave. An increase in volume would sounded almost as exciting and would mean that younger players could easily tackle this arrangement.
