This popular concert piece originally written for soprano solo has been arranged for a three-part choir of female voices (SSA) accompanied by piano or keyboard (harpsichord and strings). Apart from the addition of a four-bar introduction and harmonisation of the middle section, this arrangement is faithful to the composer's original score, using the string parts to create the additional soprano 2 and alto parts. Where the soprano soloist would customarily embellish the melody with additional ornamentation, especially during the repeated section, the accompanist instead can ad lib.
