Cityscapes is one of Rick Hirsch's most widely-played works for saxophone quartet (SATB). It has been performed at Henri Selmer Hall in Paris, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the US Navy Saxophone Symposium in DC, the MidWest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and at the International Music Education Symposium in Greece. It's a unique composition that fills a Classical-Jazz crossover slot on your quartet's concert program, and is comparable to Phil Woods' quartets in that regard. There are optional ad-lib parts in the Soprano and Alto. Hirsch composed Cityscapes for the outstanding Osland Saxophone Quartet, who recorded it on their double-CD Commission: Impossible.
