This arrangement for brass quintet and organ is part of the Chicago Gargoyle Brass and Organ Ensemble "Signature Series."Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 is commonly called the "Reformation" due to its use of the "Dresden Amen" and the Martin Luther chorale "A Mighty Fortress." It is really good music, but it just does not get performed very much by symphony orchestras. As a result, this arrangement is a welcome addition to the brass and organ repertoire, that allows this wonderful setting of "A Mighty Fortress" to be heard by a broader audience. Perfect for a concert or any church service, especially around Reformation Sunday! This arrangement, which comes with B-flat and C trumpet parts and an optional Timpani part, includes music from the introduction of the first movement and the fourth movement. Performance time, 9:15.
