Stardust by Hoagy Carmichael and words by Mitchell Parish, arranged by Craig Garner for Brass Quintet. Stardust, originally composed in 1927 as an instrumental, is an American jazz standard. According to Carmichael, the song was inspired by lost love and heartbreak. Stardust has been covered by almost everyone, from Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and Nat King Cole to Mel Torme, Harry Connick, Jr., Rod Stewart and John Coltrane. This arrangement features the trombone (reminiscent of Tommy Dorsey) and the second trumpet (à la Billy Butterfield). It comes with a full score and set of parts: 2 B-flat trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. Performance time, 2:45. Published by Dorm 40 Music, www.dorm40music.com
