Galloping, galloping, here they come! Wild Horses on the Open Range is a driving, intermediate level piano solo in G minor that is an excellent study in rhythm. The left hand plays eighth notes that create a galloping effect when played in a swing (long-short) style. The right hand uses several eighth triplets; remember that triplets do not swing, as the 2-8th note groups do. Watch for m.12-13 and 27-28 that are played with a straight 8th rhythm. Helpful fingering and dynamics included. Great recital piece or just for fun- especially for horse lovers! Copyright 2012 by Amy J. Snyder.
