"At the Shrine of the Rose" by Francis Richter was written in 1920 for the Shriners' national convention that was held in Portland Oregon. The march was dedicated to the El Kadar Temple in Portland for that 1920 convention. It was at their 'Imperial Session' in Portland that the Shriners attending it voted unanimously to adopt a resolution establishing the Shriners' Hospitals for Children (what they now call 'The World's Greatest Philanthropy').
