Irish jigs and reels are an excellent and enjoyable vehicle for improving technique. The Irish Washerwoman is a familiar Irish double jig in the key of D major arranged here as an easy/beginner solo for fiddle, violin or mandolin. Two bowing styles are suggested for violin or fiddle. The first, single bowing, is the easiest. The second, illustrated in the second part of the arrangement, is a more advanced style that drives the jig and encourages audiences to clap and dance. Chords are also listed for accompaniment.
