Written on May 12, 2015, "Above the Clouds" is an original piano composition that is an etude for using broken chord patterns in the right hand. The left hand is intentionally left simple with every measure just playing the root and 5th of the chord. This is a good exercise in using broken chord patterns while bringing a melody out on top. James Michael Stevens is a prolific composer residing in Nashville, TN where he serves as the music department chairman of Welch College. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFvsYfDMRX4
