This beloved Irish folk melody is formatted as an instrumental trio (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment). Beginning in the key of F major, the CELLO plays the first phrase followed by the VIOLIN on the second phrase then both playing for the ending of the first verse. Verse 2 transitions into a bolder harmony then broadens into the key of G major for a third verse.

All notes for both the violin and cello are playable in the first position making this an excellent selection for beginning string players. The ranges are as follows: VIOLIN ~ C4 to G5; CELLO ~ G2 to D4.
