Product Description

This fugue is the 3rd fugue in Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1, which was written for the piano, and consists of 2 sets of 24 Preludes and Fugues. This is one of my favorites to play on the piano.

The original piece was written in the key of C# for 3 voices. Transposing it to E minor not only gets rid of a key signature with 7 sharps, but it also gets rid of a lot of double sharps too. Expanding the voices to 4 allows for an easier lower part that is now shared between the viola and cello. I added in different notes here and there to try to keep the parts from being completely identical.

As with most Bach fugues, this one just plugs along at the same tempo until the last 2 measures. It's fun, challenging, and will be a winner at your recitals!
