Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) was a German composer and keyboard player of the Romantic period. This piece is an adaptation from his fourth volume of Songs, written between 1839 and 1841. These "Songs Without Words", originally written for the piano, capitalized on the growing popularity of the piano and are accesible short lyrical pieces.This lyrical piece is arranged for string quartet. While the notes, rhythms and use of the bow are not at all demanding, this pieces calls for attention to style, tone, and dynamics. Suitable for intermediate/advanced student, amateur or professional players.
